The ATEC (Autism Treatment Evaluation Checklist) is a free 77-item questionnaire developed by Dr. Bernard Rimland and Dr. Stephen M. Edelson at the Autism Research Institute. It is designed to help caregivers and families evaluate and track the effectiveness of autism treatments over time — not to diagnose autism.
The ATEC covers four domains: Speech and Language Communication (14 items), Sociability (20 items), Sensory and Cognitive Awareness (18 items), and Health, Physical, and Behavior (25 items). Each domain is scored separately, and a total score out of 179 is calculated. Lower scores indicate fewer concerns. A total score below 30 is associated with a high chance of independent functioning.
Complete all 77 questions based on your child's current behavior and abilities. The assessment takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Results are instant, include a subscale breakdown, and can be exported as a PDF report. All data stays on your device — nothing is stored on external servers.
This free ATEC screener was built by Kenzo's Journey, a Filipino family navigating ASD. It is part of a broader resource covering FRAA testing, Cerebral Folate Deficiency, the Organic Acids Test, and the GFCFSF diet — all explained for families in the Philippines.
